Established in 2005, we’re probably the most technologically advanced microbrewery in the country – but even with our unique approach we’re still very much a hands on, dedicated family business crafting some truly unique beers and lagers.


Based in Kings Bromley in rural Staffordshire, Quartz Brewing is an independant, family owned microbrewery.

Originally founded in 2005 by Scott Barnett - a brewing engineer and partner Julia Barnett - master brewer .

Quartz Blonde
3.8%. Our first ale which is a light golden ale to quench the thirst.

Quartz Crystal
4.2%. An amber coloured ale brewed with Perle and Hersbrucker hops.

Quartz Extra Blonde
4.4%. A Golden ale with a full fruity favour.

Quartz Heart
4.6%. A premium bitter Brewed with Brewers Gold hops to give a spicy finish.

Quartz Cracker
5.0%. An award winning dark bitter, brewed with chocolate malt.

Quartz Inaugural
4.4% Lager. Our newest addition to the range and our very first lager.

The Best of British Beer was created by husband and wife team Will and Gill Sherwin in 2011 with one simple aim in mind – to help wave the flag for this country's finest independent producers of quality beers. They work directly with each brewery so you know that you are getting a truly personal service and the freshest beer possible.

Graduated with an Information Engineering degree 1990 at Strathclyde University

I joined Bass Brewers at the start of 1991

Working at Cape Hill Brewery in the engineering team and then as technical engineer involved in the design, installation and commissioning of a bottling and canning operation

After Cape Hill I moved to Burton Brewery and held the position of Brewing and Filtration engineer and then into the role of Utilities engineering manager

In the Summer of 2000 I left Bass to go to Aston University, gaining an MBA in Business Administration in 2001

Post Aston I joined the American company Air Products as a project engineer managing installations of liquid nitrogen systems in the food and drinks sector

Setup Quartz in 2005!

Graduated with a Microbiology degree in 1989 at the University of Leeds

I joined Allied Breweries in 1989

My first role was in the Brewing department at Tetley Walkers, Warrington.

I moved to Ind Coope Burton Brewery to run the pilot plant at Burton in 1994. Soon afterwards I joining the group technical deparment as a Technical Brewer, working with various contract brewing projects around the UK

Whilst at Allied I became a Master brewer, and gained a MBA in Business Administration at Warwick University

Set up Quartz in 2005!
